it’s advertised as free, however it is incomplete — must I buy a $29 version to rip more than 15 minutes? If not, how do I get it to work?

  This is supposed to be a full-featured copy (no upgrades) of the program.
  I will contact my source at WonderFox to see what they have to say and will get back to you,

  @ Alan – You need to activate the software using the license code provided. Included with the download is a Word document which contains your license code plus instructions on how to activate the software. Activation will then unlock the full version.

Their will be two items in the zip folder, license and the RipperPro 8.4 installer. If one wants to install to the C Drive then just open the RipperPro installer and click on run. If one wants to install to a different drive then extract the files to a folder on your desktop. their will be one item in the extracted files called License-en, open this file and the RipperPro installer is their, with the license. Run the installer and browse to the folder or drive one wishes to install to. Open the software and the license in two different windows and just copy and paste the product license into the license box.

Used the Wonderfox Ripper Pro to rip a DVD movie to my HDD. It does seem to be quite easy to use. Thanks DCT for the giveaway.
