How To Use Word Characters, Formatting

I know that sounds boring, but once you see how non-boring this is, and how it can save you lots of time and make you look smart, you will be glad you learned it!

Let’s start with replacing characters, shall we?

You may be surprised to learn that you can replace special characters.  If so, follow the steps below, and I think you will learn something that will save you lots and lots of time and make you look smart! (I knew you were all along.)

  • On your Home tab, select Replace in your Editing group
  • Now click your More button
  • Next, position your cursor in the Replace with text box
  • From there (Special button), select the special character you would like to add to your Replace with text box
  • Now make certain that your All option has been selected from your Search box. Before your insertion pointer button, make sure you select the Up or Down Options from your search box
  • Ok, now confirm each replacement on a one-to-one basis by using Find Next
  • You can now click Replace to replace your text and/or Find Next so you can skip the next search that pops up
  • You could replace all by clicking Replace All, and once you are finished, a dialog box with the number of replacements that have been made will appear
  • Click to close your dialog box
  • You may now click Close to end your session

See how smart you are now?  You’re welcome!
