Lock your Fields in MS Word!


WordAs you know from previous posts, fields are used frequently in MS Word documents. Often, fields in your document are updated automatically when you make edits to your document or print it. There can be instances though, when you may not want a field to be updated.

Follow the steps below to learn how to lock a field in your document:

  1. Select the field in your document you would like to lock.
  2. Click Shift + F9 to update your field, if you like.
  3. Click Ctrl + F11.

Should you decide to unlock your field at a later date,  follow these steps:

  1. Select the field you would like to unlock.
  2. Click Ctrl + Shift + F11.
