THIS GIVEAWAY HAS NOW EXPIRED[/message]

DCT has a brand new Apple TV streaming media player bundle, complete with HDMI cable, up for grabs. Yes, DCT readers have the chance to win this great prize absolutely free.

We asked Judy Novotny, who owns one of these devices and is DCT’s expert on all things Apple, to compile some facts about the Apple TV device, its features and options. If anybody knows more about Apple products than Judy, I’ve yet to meet them… here’s what Judy has to say:

Apple TV – Features and Options

appletv3

Apple TV is a digital media player that can receive digital data from a number of sources and stream it to capable TV for playing on the TV screen.  If you live in the Apple ecosystem (Macs, iPhones, iPads, etc.), you can stream content from your Mac or iOS device to your TV through Apple TV. Even if you don’t live in the ecosystem, Apple TV is still a great source for entertainment. While I admittedly do live in that ecosystem, I rarely stream content through a device. Apple TV is compatible with high-definition TVs with HDMI and capable of 1080p or 720p. It is often likened to a hockey puck in size although I think it’s a little larger than that.

I’ve had Apple TV for a few years. We actually had two but my son confiscated one of them for his college apartment. We recently bought his girlfriend one for Christmas. It’s always a good entertainment option if you find the current TV programming to be lacking (which I do a lot).

We have a Netflix subscription that never gets used, The wife monopolizes the TV that it works with. This little gadget would allow me to utilize our subscription on my little TV in the bedroom.

  2. Dick Snakenberg

We ditched satellite TV a year and are still seeking more options. This would be great! Thanks for the chance!

  3. Thanks, streaming own movies and music from a networked computer or, via Apple AirPlay

  4. Yes, I would like to win. I don’t have cable or dish because of the expense. There are lot of things i would like to see but..

    Good luck to all and
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Worlds Greatest Moms!

  5. would like to try this out. what is the difference between this and Chromecast??

  6. Frankln Disney

I currently have a Midnight GBox and it has several problems. I would like to try an Apple Streaming box to compare it with. My thinking is that Apple is a large enough company that their equipment would not have any bugs.

  7. Peter Thompson

My partner has an apple mac and iPhone so this would be great. We are often out and miss a lot of TV so rather than recording stuff the ability to watch stuff on demand including movies would be very helpful

  8. Thanks for this contest. I would love to have the Apple TV to use my iPad to stream. Looks like it is just the thing to do this.

  9. I am interested in cutting out cable. I need to cut down some of my bills and have been thinking about giving this a shot! I would love to win!

  10. We are dumping costly cable – would be a great way to find out what Apple TV has really has to offer.
