Windows 10 More Stable Than Windows 11 In 2026

This is the latest headline doing the rounds on tech sites — “Windows 10 More Stable Than Windows 11 In 2026” — and once again I am amazed at the stupidity.

The story is based purely on the result of a study analysing the adverse effects Windows updates have had on both operating systems during 2026, which concluded that Windows 11 updates have caused more instability than Windows 10 updates.

When one considers the defining facts:

  • The vast majority of buggy updates are feature updates, not security updates
  • During the entirety of 2026, Windows 10 has been limited to security updates only, with zero feature updates
  • During that same period, Windows 11 has been bombarded with a proliferation of new feature updates

It doesn’t take an Einstein to work out that Windows 10 would have to be more stable than Windows 11 during that period.

I might also add that buggy Windows updates have not been exclusive to Windows 11. Prior to Windows 10’s end-of-support, when that operating system was still receiving feature updates, there were plenty of buggy Windows updates delivered.

BOTTOM LINE:

The methodology for the study is flawed; the conclusion of the study is flawed and, once again, tech sites are guilty of creating sensationalist clickbait from a molehill of crap.

If medals were handed out for “stating the patently obvious”, these tech sites would be champions.

Nota Bene, I realize I’m harping on this topic, and for that I do apologize. However, it irks me no end when we here at DCT are constantly striving for honest journalism while these popular/leading tech sites continue publishing this type of blatant clickbait.

  1. I agree Jim, with Windows 10 I don’t think I had ever seen a blue screen, with Windows 11 blue and green screens are almost expected , know I have seen my fair share on my Windows machine.
