As you most likely already know, when you create a chart in MS Excel, it will automatically create a chart legend for you, depending on which type of chart you have created. You are not, however, limited to using that particular legend. You do not even have to have a legend should you not care to.
Follow the steps below to learn how to take control of your chart legend:
- Click one time on your legend to select it. Handles will appear around the perimeter of your legend.
- Select the Layout tab on your Ribbon, which is only visible when your legend is selected.
- In the Labels group, click the Legend drop-down list.
- Select None from the options offered.
See? You have the final say as to whether your chart displays a legend or not!
