How To Set Up Assistant Menu On Samsung

Last week, I talked about how you could possibly speed up your internet speed on your phone. If you missed that one, you can find it here:

How To Increase Internet Speed On Phone

This week, we are going to continue with phone tips. You might be wondering what I’m going to teach you this time. While I was playing around on my phone, I wanted to take a screenshot. This can be a pain since you always have to hold down 2 to 3 buttons for it to work. What if I told you can set your phone up so that you only have to tap a part of your screen to do it. Would you believe me? It is true, and it has to do with the Assistant Menu that your phone already has. I’m going to show you how to set this up on your device. Before I start our new lesson, make sure to check out these other articles I have written:

Time to begin the class and learn something useful.

How To Set Up Assistant Menu On Samsung

This will be shown using my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S22 Android phone.

Step 1:  On your device, swipe down from the top. Now you should see the Gear (Settings) icon at the top right. Tap it.

Step 2: Once on the Settings menu, look for the option called Accessibility. Tap it.

Step 3: Here, you will want to find “Interaction and dexterity,” which should be the 5th option from the top. Tap it.

Step 4: Here, on the Interaction and dexterity screen, you will see Assistant menu. To the right of that is a switch; tap it to turn this option on. Now tap the Assistant menu.

Step 5: We are now on the Assistant menu screen with many options. The one you want to tap on is on the top, called Select Assistant menu items. Tap it.

Step 6: Here is where you can add items to the menu you are creating. We only want the Screenshot option this time, so to add this, you would tap the plus sign on the top right of the icon. This photo shows it is already added, so you will see a negative sign there rather than the normal plus sign. Pressing the minus sign would remove it, but we want to keep this on. If you look to the top right, they have a Reset link if you want to start over.  Since this is set, head back to the previous Screen Assistant menu.

Step 7:  Here, I wanted to show you how you can make this menu a little less noticeable. There is a section on here for Transparency. Drag the dot left or right to make it more transparent or less so. After that, head back to the Home Screen.

Step 8: As you can see, I have my Screenshot shortcut set to the most transparent. You can drag it anywhere on your phone, so make sure it is out of your way so you don’t accidentally tap it. Done!

Now you can take those screenshots, or any other shortcut you made, without the hassle of all those buttons. Time to share your knowledge with the world.
