Windows 8.1 logoDaves Computer Tips is offering our subscribers the chance to win a copy of Windows 8.1 64-bit, including installation media and genuine product key, absolutely free!

Bearing in mind that XP’s end of support date is just around the corner, and many XP users will be looking to upgrade their operating system, we thought this might be a timely and useful prize.

DCT is pretty much the ‘home’ of Windows 8/8.1. Dave, myself, and Richard are all running Windows 8.1 and we all like the new operating system. Between us, we have written and published numerous articles, all drawn from first hand experience – guides, tips, how-tos, and the like – to help users setup and manage their new operating system.

It’s a terrific resource for anyone upgrading to Windows 8 or 8.1 and you can access all those articles in the one place by utilizing the ‘Post Categories’ feature in the right hand navigation panel. Just click on the ‘Windows 8’ item to view a list of links to all relevant titles:

  2. This O/S couldn’t come at a better time. I am retired with lots of time on my hands and over the last year, have been bitten with the computer bug. I have built 6 systems for my friends. I was a w7 convert until I tried w8.1. With the new update M/S is about to release, I think its time I converted to w8.1. (With a start menu ). Your site is one of my daily sites to visit. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the giveway.

  10. In my daily work I use three computers. On two computers I have Windows 7 ( x64 ), and the one still Windows XP ( x64 ). If I won the license for Windows 8 I’d like to upgrade third computer.

  13. I am still sturggling with Vista, yes, someone had to be stupid enough, and so is my wife (shes not stupid, I dare nto say that and she says I am more stupid than her coz I married her, so what can I say about that?) and it was “Me” who brought her the Vista laptop, so I guess, my fault! She has now “had enough” of Vista and looking at me to buy her a “new laptop.” Her laptop will run Win 8 and it would be great to win8 (wineight, get it!) so I could have a very happy wife and she can teach me how to use it lol! I do look DCT every week and have learned so great stuff, so thanks to all that help us, keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated, Good luck to everyone and whoever wins, enjoy…..

    Thank you for this giveaway.
I would like to discover other benefits from another operating system from Microsoft, especially Windows 8.1 wich is superior to my current operating system installed in my computer, an old Windows XP.

  15. Thank you for another great giveaway! In case I win I’ll use it for my new PC that I’m buying next month.

  16. My home desktop at present runs Windows 7 but I voluntarily tutor people in how to use their PC. We are getting more and more students now with Windows 8.1. We have bought new PCs to tutor them on and I am in the process of setting them up to boot into Windows 8 or Windows 7 to cater for all students. I thin it is about time that I upgraded my own PC so that I can get more familiar with Windows 8.1 so that I may provide better tutoring.

  17. Please include me in the giveaway. I’ve used every version of Windows from 95. I like to play with it till I get it the way I like it. I even have one computer with Vista, that I still use every day. I found that if I set unneeded services to Manual and many to Disabled, that even Vista works great.

All but one of my computers have been custom-builds, built by a local shop, or by myself. I stopped buying Windows when W8 came out. I tried the betas of 8.0 and 8.1 and found I could make then work OK with apps such as Classic Shell, but since I don’t have a touch screen, and don’t want to buy one, I am fine with W7 on all machines.

But, I would love to have W8.1-64 to play with. Maybe, I would get excited about playing with it and become a convert. But, I am just not interested in paying the going rate to get the experience.

    Thanks for providing this opportunity.

  18. More people than ever before are turning to me for help with their computers. I need to move to Win8.1 so I can help others with problems with their own new computers. Thanks for this contest.

  19. I like Windows 8 for functionality, stability, ease of use, nice interface, good support. If I have the windows 8.1 I’ll be the happiest user! Microsoft you better!

  20. Thank you for this giveaway!
I have hope to win this giveaway. I need to get valid copy Windows 8.1 because I don’t want to have pirated copy Windows 8.1.
