Yes, folks, Daves Computer Tips has provided tech tips, guides, and news for 20 years.
Back in 2006, David Hartsock was the go-to computer guru for his circle of family and friends when he decided it might not be a bad idea to share his vast knowledge with a wider audience, and… voilà… Daves Computer Tips was born.
In those early days, Daves Computer Tips consisted of a fortnightly newsletter plus a simple website which essentially acted as an archive for the newsletters. Below is a snapshot of DCT’s home page from 2006:

As the number of subscribers grew, a member forum was added to the equation and, back then, the forum was a very busy place with a large and growing community.
Then, in 2011, Dave decided to move to a blog format, which involved a complete website revamp, a massive chore which Dave completed single-handedly. Since then, DCT has published more than 7300 articles and distributed 1000+ weekly newsletters.
During the past 20 years, we’ve seen authors come and go, the website changing color schemes several times, but the one constant has been our core value of providing simple, easy-to-understand guides, tips, news, and reviews.
It’s quite remarkable for a small website to have survived for 20 years, and much of the credit must go to our talented core team members who have stuck with us through thick and thin:
Richard Pedersen (editor), Marc Thomas, Jason Shuffield, Terry Hollett, Jim Canfield, yours truly, and Carol Bratt (who has been with DCT since day one). And more recently, John Durso.
That said, we certainly could not have survived without you, our band of loyal readers. So, a big THANK YOU to all of you for your ongoing patronage.
And may there be many more years to come!

Happy 20th Birthday. I’m a relatively new reader, about 2 years, but I’ve learned a lot from the newsletters that you and the team put together. Thank you and a toast to you for 20 more informative years.
Definitely a happy birthday! I’ve used computers for years, but when it comes to the technical side of things, it’s newsletters such as this that are so very helpful and instructive!
I’ve got to ask though, where is David Hartsock? I see his name mentioned in a past tense but am wondering where he is at present.
Well, Nicke, Dave is alive and well working a full-time job. He deserves a lot of credit for keeping DCT runnng all these years.
