YouTube AI Claims Windows 11 Local Account Is Dangerous

Many of you will know that Windows 11 has some questionable requirements, most notably the insistence on logging in with a Microsoft account at the initial install setup. As a result, numerous workarounds have appeared, many of them on YouTube. However, at least three YouTubers have had workaround videos removed that show how to create a local account instead of a Microsoft account. According to YouTuber CyberCPU Tech, his video was removed for the following reasons:

…based on a violation of Harmful or Dangerous Content which prohibits content that encourages or promotes behavior that encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death.

Clearly, there’s something very wrong here because surely no sane person would suggest that creating a Windows 11 local account could lead to physical harm or death? It’s clear from his account of how it happened that this was AI moderation, and I’m happy to report that his videos have now been reinstated. But that doesn’t detract from the very real danger that AI now presents as it begins to take over all our lives. Humans make mistakes and usually rectify those mistakes when called on.

In cases such as this, it’s almost impossible to speak to a human being, and negotiating with AI is a road to nowhere. This is amply illustrated by copyright strikes on other YouTube videos being flagged by AI moderators, even within the grey area of fair use.

It’s one thing to see AI-generated images that are difficult to discern from the real thing, but quite another when AI makes decisions over a human being’s livelihood.

  1. YouTube (they need to grow up). Pirates have reversed their decision and withdrawn the strike, restoring their accounts!

  2. Very interesting. How do we know Marc Thomas’ response is not AI generated (I suspect it is not, but making a point). AI can be insidious.
