Update – Piriform now charging for their software?

A couple of day ago we reported on the confusion surrounding Piriform’s change in policy, where an extra ‘Home’ version costing $24.95 has been added to the downloads for products such as CCleaner and Defraggler – see HERE.

We have since received an email response from the Piriform Support team which confirms our initial interpretation; the Free versions remain full featured and identical to the Home versions, except for the additional ‘Priority Support’. Here is a copy of their reply:

Our Priority Support users enjoy the following benefits over our other users:
Rapid email response for any queries they have regarding Piriform products.
Free updates for all Piriform products with direct downloads.
Access to our knowledgebase for solutions to any technical problem related to Piriform products.

The reply came quickly too which only confirms that Piriform is indeed a very good company to deal with.
