Two New Tomb Raider Games Revealed At The Game Awards

I’m so glad I stayed up to watch The Game Awards last night, which for me kicked off at 9.30 pm my local time, because two hours later, as I was about to hit the sack, a familiar silhouette appeared on the huge screen. Lara Croft had finally returned, toting her iconic dual pistols, and in the action trailer, it was revealed as Tomb Raider: Catalyst to be released in 2027.

But wait, just as I thought the reveal had ended, we heard Lara telling us how the story began, and there she was again, walking through a muddy forest and then diving over a waterfall in the same setting as the first and original Tomb Raider of 1996.

The all-action sequence continued, and it looked so familiar, especially her confrontation towards the end, which revealed the new game, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, for a 2026 release.

Initially, I had been sceptical of two games being revealed due to the number of leaks that appeared yesterday, so I gladly stand corrected. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is being produced by Crystal Dynamics, and the company is working with Polish studio, Flying Wild Hog, on Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, with both being published by Amazon Game Studios.

So the wait is finally over, and as an added bonus, we’ll be getting two new games. What could be better than that?

Please take my money!

  1. What games are you playing at the moment Marc? I finished Atomfall with 10 out of the 11 endings (with DLC’s) then as I forgot to make the right save point on one of the DLC’s was left with a choice of start again or take a break, taking a break from it LOL. Just started Resident Evil Requiem – now that has a jump scare or two.

    1. I haven’t been playing much lately, Alan. But when I do get some spare time it’s usually Forza Horizon 5, Wreckfest, Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Crew 1 through TCU.
I’ve played RE 2&3 remakes, but I’m easily scared nowadays in survival horror games. RE Village was awful.
