My TV Will Not Turn On Update

I wrote about this problem before: I could not get my TV to turn on without unplugging the power first. For the last couple of mornings, when I got up, my TV was ON. It turned on by itself.

If I turned it off for any length of time, I had to unplug it for a few minutes before I could turn it on.

So I went online searching for more information. Some suggestions included:

Disable HDMI-CEC (Anynet+, Bravia Sync, SimpLink) – I think this is for Smart TVs. My TV is not Smart and doesn’t have this setting.

A stuck power button. Try turning it on and off a few times.

Disconnect connected peripherals like USB TV sticks.

I don’t have any of these, but I do have a device connected to my TV other than my Acer Desktop; the one with Windows 7 is connected with a VGA cable. I still use it for my Network backup. I recently made some backups and just kept the computer running.

I had no issues with it before. So, time to experiment.  I turned off the computer. When I went to bed, I turned off my TV. The next morning, I got up, and the TV was still OFF. I’ve tried it two nights in a row now—same results, and no more problems turning on the TV.

You have had the same setup for years, and nothing changes. I’m still blaming gremlins. So, how have the gremlins affected your tech? Let us know in the comments. 🙂
