Have you ever wondered what, exactly, happens when you digitally sign a Word document? I mean, what goes on in the background? Well, if you were not aware, let me enlighten you. When you digitally sign a Word document, your digital signature applies to the content of your document and that means the information in the content that may not be visible in the current view. Actually, certain information is stored within your digital signature (i.e., date and time, Office version, etc.)
So now that you are aware, I am sure you would like to be able to view that information right?
Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Open your document that contains signatures that you would like to view.
- If the document has been digitally signed, upon opening, you will be a yellow Signatures notification at the top of your document.
- Click View Signatures.
- In the Signatures pane that appears, you will see an arrow — that appears on the right-hand side — click it.
- Click Signature Details.
- In the dialog box that appears, click See the additional signing information that was collected.
You can now see all information stored within the signature.
