I’ve said it before — there’s never been a better time to buy games with the market more competitive than ever before and aggregator sites will help you find bargains and special deals, so it’s worth shopping around. It’s also worth bearing in mind that most outlets use geographical pricing which may or may not work in your favour. In my case, living in a third-world country, benefits from this aspect since prices for games bought in Argentina are, along with Russia, usually the cheapest in the world. Take this example of DOOM on Steam, according to SteamDB:
Top Deal Sites
Without a doubt, the best site for games deals is CheapShark, because of the concise and easy-to-use manner in which the game deals are shown. Their landing page is self-explanatory and shows the current top deals available by store.
For example, a search for Dishonored 2 will bring up a list of all the stores selling that game, together with the prices and links to those sites.
It’s important to remember that CheapShark doesn’t sell games and the links take you directly to the store you choose. Neither do they link to grey markets key sites such as CDKeys and others, so you can be sure that the game will activate in your region.
Other game aggregators include IsThereAnyDeal which I haven’t used yet and numerous others too many to mention here. On the whole, I tend to stick with Gamesplanet, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, and one or two others simply because I’ve always had excellent service with those sites which are different from CheapShark in that they are actual games stores. Very often, some sites will put your game purchase into review for some unknown reason and I tend to avoid them.
It’s worth pointing out that I’m not in any way affiliated with CheapShark, but I know a well-presented and easy-to-use website when I see one.
