How To Disable Browser AI, Telemetry, & More

NOTE: Applies to Chrome, Edge, and Firefox only.

Corbin Davenport, a tech writer, software developer, and podcaster, has released a tool to help users remove AI features, telemetry data reporting, sponsored content, product integrations, and other annoyances from the Chrome, Edge, and Firefox browsers.

Corbin’s project, appropriately named “Just the Browser“, consists of various scripts to edit group policy configurations, thus enabling hidden settings provided by Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla, for businesses and other large organizations.

Corbin states his reasons for initiating his Just the Browser project thus:

I want my web browser to be just be a browser. I don’t want shopping integrations, or AI agents taking over my cursor, or local AI models running constantly in the background just to reshuffle my tabs.

Corbin has provided setup guides for each browser on the justthebrowser.com website and/or GitHub</

I recently created a video that explains these new features and also gives instructions for turning off AI in Chrome which would also apply to most Chromium based browsers.

  2. Hi Jim. Am I correct in believing that using Winhance, these features are already taken care of, Mindblower!

    1. Hey MB,

Pretty much, yes. “Just the Browser” implements changes in browsers only whereas Winhance is system wide. In other words, Winhance is far more comprehensive.
