How To Change Auto-Recover Files Location – Word 365

Maybe you’re a neat freak or you have a little OCD going on! For whatever reason, if you would like to save where your AutoRecovery files are saved in Word, you can do so!

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1.  Go to File | Options | Save
  2. Under Save documents, key in or browse to a path in the AutoRecover file location area.
  3.  Select OK.

  1. What I don’t understand is 1) why can’t I change where the backup folders and files are saved? And 2) Why are my autorecover files currently being saved in preferences? That makes no sense unless the autorecover files are not what I think they are.
