Wishing all our Aussie readers a very Happy Australia Day (Saturday, 26th January).
*Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia. The day is marked by the presentation of the Australian of the Year Awards and the announcement of the Australia Day Honor’s list.
It is absolutely peeing down here in Queensland, and blowing a gale. While my old mate ‘EJ’ in Victoria has been dodging bush fires. Australia sure is a country of extremes.
Wherever you are, whatever the weather, we at DCT sincerely hope every one of our Aussie mates enjoys a happy and safe Australia Day.
