For whatever reason I changed my C drive to active. Now it wont boot with a bootmgr is missing. I tried a repair disc and then get a ntldr is missing. I cant seem to find my W7 disc (SER# is written on disc) and no one around me has one.
Thoughts?
I have installed Linus Lime but that wont allow me to "unmark" C drive as active....

Hi Terry - I'm assuming your C drive includes a 'System Reserved' partition?

You can unmark a partition as active using "diskpart" commands. Please follow these steps:

Open an elevated command prompt (run as administrator)
Type in diskpart and press Enter.

Now we're going to identify which partition you need to work with:

Type list disk at the prompt and a list of disks will be displayed numbered starting at 0
Type select disk # replacing the # with the appropriate disk from the list
Type list partition and a list of partitions for the selected disk will be displayed
Type select Partition # replacing the # with the appropriate partition from the list

To unmark the selected partition as active, type in the command: inactive
Exit the command prompt using command: exit
Reboot the system.

Hope that helps.

Of course!! What was I thinking! Sorry mate.

A couple of suggestions:

1) Download bootable MiniTool Partition Wizard, burn the ISO to disc and boot the PC from the bootable disc: https://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html

Or, download GParted bootable ISO here: http://gparted.org/livecd.php

NOTE: I'm not sure if either software includes a feature to unmark partitions as active so it would be a look and see situation.

2) Download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO using the software discussed in this article here: https://davescomputertips.com/easily-download-windows-isos/

Or, if you have a product key, you can download the ISO here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows7

What is Linus Lime? Is this a reference to Linux Mint? If so then your PC should be booting from the Grub boot loader.
Both my drives are marked active and still booting W10 and W7 in a dual boot.

I did a clean install...no problem.
Now I've acquired a virus that sends me to other pages when surfing. I've done spyware blaster, MBAM, Avira with no results. Spybot will not scan even in Safe Mode.
Thoughts?

What browser? Are the redirects happening all the time on every site or just when you visit certain specific sites? Are the redirects to random sites or always to the same site?

I finally got Spybot SD to run but it did not kill the monster. I also disabled all Chrome Extensions.

Okay, so specific to Chrome.

Download and run the Chrome Cleanup Tool here: https://www.google.com/chrome/cleanup-tool/

Next, reset all Chrome settings: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214

Finally, scan the system with AdwCleaner: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

Let us know how you get on.
