No really, I appreciate all of your time. That has been very considerate of you and I appreciate it.
One last question: trying to install W10 upgrade I get a message saying that my primary partition is compressed. It's not and I have enlarged it to encompass W10 info.
Any last thoughts?

Terry,
If that were my PC, I would disconnect all other drives and work with the SSD alone . Run a CHKDSK and reboot that PC using a Gparted CD and use Gparted to reformat and create a NTFS partition. I would also disable UEFI and reinstall W7 before trying to upgrade to W10.

Upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seems to be working great.
