You were right Marc ! A friend was having the same problem and he suggested I go to Windows Update and uninstall... 'Security' update KB3086255 then restart. I did it and now the games play fine. Hope this post will help someone that might be having the same problem.
I don't know if uninstalling is the best option. The KB article states this update is a prerequisite for future updates. Maybe the best option would be to run services.msc and start the service associated with secdrv.sys when you need it to run the game.
