DCTips, please help with this Microsoft Internet Explorer problem.
I run Windows 7 Professional SP1 on a powerful Intel Core 2 Quad purpose built desktop PC, with 4 MB Crucial RAM and an ASUSTeK Computer INC. Model Intel P5P43TD (LGA775) Motherboard.
IE 10 gave so much trouble, that I deleted the update and reverted to IE8. Yesterday Microsoft, through automatic updates, offered me IE10 again, which I accepted, but after eighteen "Update Failed" attempts to first update IE8, I gave up. As you can see, Microsoft blindly tried again this morning!
Can you suggest a remedy? Microsoft has always suffered from lack of customer contact, and appears not to have have read my comments on what is happening. Thank you so much.

Hi Ballyirish - These types of errors are always difficult to diagnose and resolve.

Please try this; download and run the Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

The error code you are getting is listed among the error codes that this tool will fix. Scroll down the page and download the correct file for your system.

You also may like to read through here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2820688

Please let us know how you get on. If it doesn't do the trick, I have a couple more ideas that may fix this for you.

Cheers... Jim
