I have been checking win7 in a friend's computer. There are many images which now show as "invalid images " in picasa which were ok in xp. they do not open in other viewers too. Win viewer reports she does not have correct permission ( she is the owner!) In security tabs I have tried clicking all security permissions but is not working.
this problem is with some jpg graphics, some do show fine.
I was thinking of changing too, but will wait and see how this resolves.

Hey shobha - Apparently there have been some compatibility issues between Picasa and Windows 7. Not everyone is experiencing problems so that seems to suggest there may be a further ingredient.....Windows 7 + Picasa + ????
Is you friend's machine a HP by any chance? There is a lot of conjecture that some HP software may be the final part of the incompatibility equation.

we tried upgrading picasa 3 to 3.6 and now the folder is showing a lock symbol on those graphics! what does it mean? as per ur suggestion I have posted on Picasa forum. waiting to hear.
( She thinks I am the superwoman of comp maintenance! I would like to keep the pretense. )

Shobha - In the reports I have read regarding this problem....it [i:1d5t8pjv]was[/i:1d5t8pjv] with the latest Picasa version (v3.6). So upgrading was never going to help.
Before doing anything further, I would wait until such times as you get some response from the Picasa Help Forum....but yes, if they cannot offer any proper/permanent solution then uninstalling Picasa would seem to be the logical fix.
The padlocks are a permissions thing. Seems the folders must have somehow been marked as private....again, this is something which Picasa may have caused.

You will see a solution which is common to both forums:

That should remove the Lock overlay.
You may need to uncheck [b:1d5t8pjv]Use Sharing Wizard[/b:1d5t8pjv] in [b:1d5t8pjv]Control Panel | Folder Options | View[/b:1d5t8pjv] tab to see the Security tab, and may have to boot to Safe Mode as well if running Home Basic or Premium.[/quote:1d5t8pjv]

Well nothing seemed to work.
uninstalled picasa, tried fixing security options. kept getting message about not authorized !
I do not know anything about Win7, and neither did my friend. so now she has reverted back to XP. We are functional again!
