This is an Ask an Expert question.
I am currently using an older TV with a pc vga slot connected to my media computer. This new computer uses HDMI outputs (2) and I convert to vga.
The newer TV's use HDMI so no problem there. Question, if I connect the computer to a newer TV via HDMI, will the computer be able to put the TV into sleep mode when used as a monitor, Mindblower!

Hi MB!

HDMI connections on both ends. I'm using an old donated 23" Vizio not connected to the internet. (I read Vizio loves to call home.)

When my PC goes to sleep, the TV loses its signal and eventually turns itself off. I use the remote to turn it back on when I wake up the computer.

There is probably a more elegant way to handle this,
Richard
