Dave's post said that he has four email  clients. Are all these in one computer with the same email address.

I am a pack rat and have thousands of posts saved in  Thunderbird.  It is compacting frequently.  Somewhere I read, that, every time it compacts, it loses mail.

I would like to install another email client.

My computer guru - repair person - says that it is not possible to have two or more pop 3 email clients with the same email address simultaneously in the same computer.

Is he correct.  If not, how would he go about installing a second - or more - client.

Thanks

Hi ed - And welcome to the forum!

Actually, it was Alan's post about the 4 email clients. I'm sure Alan will be along shortly to answer your questions.

Cheers... Jim

Hi Ed and welcome to DCT,

You can install as many email clients as you wish on your computer just as you can have multiple browsers (I have four of those as well) but you can only have one client or browser as default. That does not stop you from opening any client you wish and it will check for email on all the accounts you have set up.

For example, I have three different email acoounts which I use daily. They are all setup on all of my clients so whichever client I choose to open will check for email and download any that I have.

I am not sure what your 'guru' was referring to maybe it was just one default client.

As far as 'How would you go about installing a second or more' it is just to decide which clients you want and download then install them.

Add your email details just as you have with Thunderbird. Each client you install will ask if you want to make it default, just answer either yes or no depending on what you want to do.

Let me know if I havnt been clear about this and I will explain further.
