I would be lost without Autoruns. It allows me to easily get rid of programs some new software insists on putting in my login sequence.

Unquestionably, the hands-down winner for me is OpenOffice. Have been using it since v 0.8 and will never go back to MS Office!

OpenOffice and Firefox are the ones I use the most. Then there is Audacity, Spybot, AdAware, Spyware Blaster, AVG, GIMP, PrimoPDF, NoteTab Lite, DupDetector, IrfanView -- my machine is loaded with freeware of all sorts, and I have an old laptop set up with Ubuntu.

Freeware rocks and rules.

I find Gimp to be a really great and useful programs, followed closely by Open Office, and the Ubuntu disto.

There are some really good ones available. The ones I use most are:

IE7Pro - MS Internet Explorer Add-In
EditPad - Advanced Notepad
ScanDefrag
JKDefrag
CCleaner
7Zip
Xplorer2
XP_Shortcuts - from TechRepublic
FolderSize for Windows Explorer
Visual Task Tips - a Task Bar Program Thumbnail Display
SysInternals Suite from Microsoft
Secuna Software Inspector
