If you've read through the latest issue of the DCT Newsletter you will have seen my choices for the top twelve essential freeware products.

Now it's your turn, here is the scenario: You have just clean installed Windows, you have established internet connectivity and are about to commence downloading and installing essential applications to strengthen security and enhance functionality. So, which 12 freeware products would you choose first, in order?

Here is my list again..in summary:

2. Email Client = Windows Live Mail
3. Browser = Firefox (+ favourite add-ons)
4. Spam/Email Manager = MailWasher
5. Extra Security = Online Armor Free Firewall
6. Cleaning Software = CCleaner
7. Maintenance Suite = TweakNow PowerPack 2010
8. Defrag and Optimize = MyDefrag
9. Image Viewer = FastStone Image Viewer
10. Unlocker
11. Sandboxie
12. Backup = Macrium Reflect Free

Hey Ron - The list does not need to follow the same categories as mine. They were just the products I would install immediately to a bare bones system.

Other people will have different priorities and include freeware from other genres.

Thanks for the list mate!

Cheers....Jim

Not a Newbie, but certainly don't use my computer the way many of the posters do, I am sure. However, I have been happy with the following:
AVG free 9.0
Syware Termiantor
Networx v. 5.1.0
F.lux
BullZip
PDF Creator
TClockEX
SpyBot S&D
Revo Uninstaller
CCCleaner
Photo Copier Free - Nicocuppen.com
Firefox
Just my 2 cents CDN, Cheers

    1. Firefox Browser
    2. $$ Roboform
    3. GIMP 2
    4. Dropbox for backing up my PST files
    5. NVU html editor
    6. CoffeeCup FTP
    7. Adobe Reader
    8. Screen Hunter (screen capture)
    9. Open Office
    10. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware

Some are "essential" but some are fun.

This list is NOT in any general order, as each program holds it's importance.

1- Spyware Blaster
2 - TweakNow Powerpack
3 - ClearProg
4 - Firefox with it's addons
5 - BurnAware Free Edition
6 - The Immunize part of SpyBot
7 - Secunia
8 - GOM player
9 - DVD Shrink
10 - Update Checker
11 - Spider
12 - PDF -Xchange

There are several more I could easily add, but the above is priceless, Mindblower!
