The review sparked my interest in the software. Then I read a post on GOTD (dated Dec 6, 2014) that claims the software is little more than a GUI for a collection of free/open-source software, some of which date back to 2003. The post also claimed MP3 Toolkit replaces more up-to-date dll files etc., with really old files.

I don't know if the post is/was correct or if Mp3 Toolkit was being given an undeserved bad rap, but it was enough for me to shy away from it and make this post to alert others to the information I found.

Hope this post helps others.

PS. Apologies to Jim and publisher of MP3 Toolkit if this information is incorrect.

Hi Bluedog,

A quote from the 2014 GOTD post you refer to:

The toolkit is not the latest software, the tools are from 2012

The date of my original review - 2012. So, at the time of my review the tools included in MP3 Toolkit were all relatively new.

Just because a software is old doesn't necessarily make it bad or of no use, particularly this type of media software. Take the case of DVD Shrink which was originally developed for XP yet, despite development ceasing not long after its release, still continued to work perfectly for years in all subsequent operating systems.

That said; your post is definitely appreciated and should be noted by prospective MP3 Toolkit users.

Thanks for the updated info.
