A new concept in virus protection....I haven't actually found any definitive information about this product yet, how it works and why it would be better. The details on the site are pretty vague/limited. Any comments Ken??

Here is a link to the official site, make sure to take look at the video....it ain't very informative but it certainly has a 'wow' factor, especially the music:

Not a big fan of anything involving 'the cloud'. I don't think the internet's infrastructure is sufficient to truly support these type applications - yet.

Details are a bit sketchy, but what happens if you are offline and someone hands you an infected USB drive?

Hey Dave - I must admit to not being sold on the 'cloud' concept either....not at this point in time anyway.

Panda Cloud AV affords offline protection via a caching system, albeit at a slightly lower level.

cheers....JIM

I've been using it for a while. I had Avast! on my laptop (being in the security realm, I try to test them all at some point) and it slowed things down so badly, I got rid of it. Because I have also been a beta tester for Panda, I was notified well in advance of their site launch and have been testing. So far, its performance is stellar; even when running a full scan, the computer is still usable.

I did notice one false positive: Panda deleted my Hosts File Updater program. I use an extensive hosts file--the MVPS hosts file--to block ads and malicious URLs. The updater program simply checks for a new version of that and downloads it. Panda detected it as the Trojan Trj/CI.A.

But for that one glitch (Cloud AV *is* still in beta, after all), I'm impressed.
