Daves Computer Tips is offering our subscribers the chance to win a copy of Windows 8.1 64-bit, including installation media and genuine product key, absolutely free!
Bearing in mind that XP’s end of support date is just around the corner, and many XP users will be looking to upgrade their operating system, we thought this might be a timely and useful prize.
DCT is pretty much the ‘home’ of Windows 8/8.1. Dave, myself, and Richard are all running Windows 8.1 and we all like the new operating system. Between us, we have written and published numerous articles, all drawn from first hand experience – guides, tips, how-tos, and the like – to help users setup and manage their new operating system.
It’s a terrific resource for anyone upgrading to Windows 8 or 8.1 and you can access all those articles in the one place by utilizing the ‘Post Categories’ feature in the right hand navigation panel. Just click on the ‘Windows 8’ item to view a list of links to all relevant titles:
For your chance to win the Windows 8.1 64-bit disc and genuine product key, all you need do is simply submit a reply to this article with a comment. We’d prefer if you told us a little about yourself and why you would like a copy of Windows 8.1.
*Now, DCT has never limited its giveaways to Facebook and/or Twitter account holders, our policy has always been “open to everyone”, and we are not changing that now. However, it would be very much appreciated if all Facebook and Twitter account holders who enter the contest could Share, or Like, or Tweet, or whatever you can do to help spread the word. Thanks!

My desktop is XP and I would love to upgrade it to Win 8.1 Thanks
Still using Win 7, win 8 will be great.
I am a senior citizen (81 Yrs). I am using the outdates Windows XP . I would love to win the Windows 8.1 giveaway. At this time it is going to cost me a good bit to upgrade. So I am thinking about shutting down until I am able to get a better system. What I have heard about running Windows xp scares me. I look forward to getting your newsletter as it has given me a lot of advice that a senior citizen can understand and use. I enjoy the world of computers even though it was late in my life when I started using a computer. Thanks again for your articles. Hope I am the one who wins as it would be greatly appreciated
I have win license from 95 to 7 except vista and 8. So that would be my chance to complete my collection.
I need to upgrade my OS since WinXP is no longer supported by MS. I would love to win a copy of this latest OS from MS. Thanks very much for this contest and all of the articles here on DCT.
I’m needing Windows 8.1 because one day I would need to shift from Windows 7 to this version. There are features in Windows 8.1 that I would need to familiarize with and this is one best way to do so. Thank you very much and great power!
I would like to give it to my mom. Thank you!
I am going to go ahead with Microsoft and Windows.
My XP is really getting wonky. I need 8.1. I’ve looked at it on YouTube & it looks great. I’d love to have it.
Thankx … Daimon~
Still using win 7, this will be great.
Thanks for a great competition Jim.
Would love to switch from my XP to 8.1 and get better security.
Hope I win.
Cheers
Thank you for this giveaway! I like Windows 8, its new technology.
I would like to win because the notebook in my bedroom still runs windows vista :/ time to upgrade.
free is better than buying Windows 8.1. I’m still not totally sold on Win 8… But trying to adjust.
I’m on win 7 and I love it. But Win 8 UI is tempting and is definite improvement over win 7. Its just a matter of getting used to. I would like to win because sooner or later I’ve to switch to an improved OS.
Good idea on the OS. Beginner
Think back to the days of a blinking green cursor on a black background monitor or a black on white Mac GUI with 128K memory, storage on 700K floppies, Prodigy online service with 1200 bit/s modems, Compuserve where incoming and outgoing messages with attachments to other email addresses was challenging, trying to figure out what a Winsock was and on and on. Yep, even though it was exciting at the time, recalling those things now makes me glad I’m still on the train for new things. So count me in for the Windows 8.1 Giveaway and thanks to all the writers that contribute articles to the website – it’s been a wonderful resource.
Of course functionality comes first, but I have to confess I care about “aesthetics” too when it comes to IT. I am using Windows 7 and it’s not bad after all, but I really fell in love with the beauty and ease of use of Modern interface. I have to say that Windows 8 left me a little puzzled, I couldn’t do without my beloved “Start” menu. Luckily the 8.1 update brought it back and now I would be so happy to grab this awesome chance. And after all, what could be better than the giveaway of a OS itself? Thanks so much!
Thanks Jim for the giveaway!
I would love to win and change my system to new one. 😉
Hmmm…. I’m still using windows 7 (32bit) that came with my laptop. Haven’t upgraded yet cuz of the price factor. Its difficult invest on an OS twice (it doesn’t come cheap) when we’ve to buy a number of other softwares as well, to use the computer properly and without any risk. If I win this, it’ll definitely help me a lot.
Thank you so much for your time and effort….
Here’s a contribution from my side as well…..

First of All, thanks for the giveaway jim, i do really love Windows 8.1 because it’s faster, easier and safer than Windows 7. I have tried this Windows 8.1 in my PC, yeah i didn’t buy it, my friend gave me the key so i can use it 🙂 but it will be happy if i win this, so i can use this key for my laptop. Great GA so far on net, it’s really hard to find a LEGIT WINDOWS 8.1 FOR FREE 🙂
i have a pc which have xp that is outdated. So i want to upgrade my pc thats why i need wimdows 8.1
Thanks a lot Jim for such a nice giveaway. There are many reasons for windows 8.1 but true fact is that i wanna upgrade my pc and i cant afford it IT is much expensive for me so i am here +1
I made the stoopid mistake of lending my trusted WinXP laptop to neighbor while I was fixing their machine.
My laptop was returned with a cracked screen (probably their 8 year old was playing some game) and I really don’t have the nerve to ask for compensation as they are barely getting by and my work horse was getting by in years. Now, their PC is fully functional w/Win7 and I am minus a laptop. It sure would be nice to have the Win8.1 OS, so that I can rebuild a used laptop to be bought at CraigsList.
Long time user of Windows 7, and I plan to upgrade my CPU once Intel releases the Haswell Processors. I’d think that Windows 8 would be perfect for my new computer.
