A serious security flaw was addressed in the most recent iOS and OS X updates. The issue was related to the inability to validate the authenticity of an SSL connection. While true of any network connectivity, the greatest danger was while using public wi-fi where it was possible for someone to capture session information.
iOS 7.0.6 and OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 were released this week to address this issue and provide other updates. Updates were also released for Lion (OS X 10.7) and Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8).
iOS 7.0.6 is for iPhone 4 and later, 5th-generationiPod touch and iPad 2 and later. On your iOS device, using the Settings app, go to General –> Software Update and tap ‘Download and Install.’ Once you ‘Agree’ to the Terms and Conditions, the download will start.
On your OS X laptop or desktop, under the Apple menu, select ‘Software Update’ and then select ‘Download and Restart.’
