According to StatCounter, as of July 2025, Windows 11’s operating system market share is nearly on par with that of Windows 10. Bearing in mind that StatCounter’s stats are not precise and provide more of a guide than an exact picture.
The following graph from StatCounter covers the past 12 months, from July 2024 through to July 2025:
As you can see, 12 months ago, there was a wide disparity between Windows 10 and Windows 11 in terms of market share. That gap has now closed to the point where the two operating systems are pretty much on a par – as of July 2025, Windows 10’s market share was at 48.76% and Windows 11’s at 47.98%.
I expect those numbers to even out as Windows 10’s end-of-support date nears, with the distinct possibility that Windows 11 will gain a handy lead by year’s end.
Windows 11 24H2 Slow
I recently upgraded my Windows 11 Insider build from 23H2 to 24H2. My experience with 24H2 is still in its infancy, but I can tell you this much: 24H2 is much slower to load than 23H2 ever was.
On the same PC with the exact same hardware and resources, Windows 11 23H2 would load almost instantly and finish loading within milliseconds. On the other hand, Windows 11 24H2 takes around 5 seconds to load and 20+ seconds to finish loading.
I have investigated – background apps, startup apps, etc. – and am unable to explain why. The better news is that once 24H2 has finished loading, it is quick and responsive, at the very least on par with 23H2.
Have you upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 as yet? Let us know your experiences via the comments.
