  1. The installation created an invalid icon which does not appear on my desktop. I went to their folder and created a shortcut directly from the program. How do I delete this invalid shortcut. I also noted on their list of conversions they do not distinguish between .mpeg1 and .mpeg2 output formats,

Tried uRex Video Converter. What a POS! It goes through all the motions, and takes a while to do It, but there is no output file. Even chose to open output folder when done, and it doesn’t even do that! Tried multiple times, and I get converted files, but the merged file that shows up in the window when done is nowhere to be found. Even did a HD search and there is nothing. Clicked on Help/Help/Email and it opens my browser, but not to the mail page unless that was open already, and even then there is no email address showing, so I cannot send it manually. I have a fast, powerful new PC (a year old) and many other video editing programs work. Just wanted to see if this was any improvement, but it seems like a waste of my time, and with “help” like they provide, I would never pay them a cent for their software. Maybe you can provide an email address to contact them.

  3. I’ve had nothing but good results with uRex and I’ve been running it since they first approached us months ago. Quality conversions at a reasonable speed. I always set the output folder manually as I usually put the converted file in the same folder as the original. Never, not once, has it not created the converted file. I haven’t used the open output folder option as I already have the folder open, but even if it doesn’t I see no reason to call the software a POS.

As to the Help>Email link – it works perfectly fine in email clients (opens the client and populates the TO field), so I’m guessing it uses the common mail HTML hyperlink. Webmail could be a problem depending on all sorts of issues from how you have your browser configured to invalid file associations in Windows.

I think you’re blowing this a bit out of proportion with the line that insinuates they do not provide help. After all there is a link to the product’s page directly above the Email link in the Help menu which contains program information, a user guide, a change log, and links to the support page. Jim also provided the support link in the comment directly above yours.

FWIW the support email address is support@urexsoft.com and their support page at http://www.urexsoft.com/support/ provides FAQ’s.
