Proton Mail’s New Mobile Apps

Looking for a secure, full-featured email client for iOS or Android? You need look no further than Proton Mail for mobile.

Proton is a privacy-centric company based in Switzerland that has gained a large following within a relatively short period of time (100 million users as at 2023). The company quickly built a solid reputation for its privacy-focused offerings, including the Proton Mail email client, Proton VPN, and Proton Drive (end-to-end encrypted cloud storage).

Proton recently announced the release of its all-new (revamped) email client for mobile devices:

Proton Mail’s mobile apps just got their biggest upgrade in nearly a decade. We rebuilt them from the ground up to be faster, smoother, and more reliable

  • Everything at your fingertips: A clean new design makes it easier to navigate, with key actions like composing within easier reach
  • Performance that keeps up: Routine actions, like scrolling your inbox, archiving threads, or replying on the go, all feel instant and are now twice as fast
  • Offline mode: Read, write, and organize your emails without an internet connection. Sync happens automatically when you’re back online”

I realize this sounds a bit like an advert for Proton, but I can assure you that neither myself nor DCT is affiliated with the company in any way. The fact of the matter is that I’ve been a very satisfied Proton Mail (webmail)) user since its early days and can recommend it without hesitation.

Wishing you all a very Merry and safe Christmas.

  1. Well, I have been using Fairemail after I switched from Bluemail. The difference has been unbelievably huge. Fairemail is one of the most customizable clients I have ever used. I even love the interface.

However, seeing this writeup, I am going to use Proton in parallel to test it out.

    1. Sure, please report back here with your findings. Just bear in mind that Proton Mail’s appeal is largely based on its enhanced privacy.

      Thanks Harry.

  2. Thanks Jim. After looking at my account, I’ve actually been a Proton user since 2022….my, how time flies.
For anyone having doubts, Proton is a fantastic choice (with a powerful ecosystem that continues to grow). I doubt any new user would be disappointed in their decision to go with their service(s).
