I woke up this morning to this error message blinking on my HP Printer (HP OfficeJet 3830).
Error Code 0xB98088FC
Luckily, the fix was simple. Turn it off and on again. I pressed the power button, but it didn’t go off. It did restart. Problem solved? I’ve been reading online that some people have fixed the problem, only to have it return a few days later. Only time will tell.
Here are a few more suggestions from the HP support site:
1. Power off the printer. Unplug the power for about 60 seconds. Plug it in and then turn it back on.
2. Check for paper jams.
3. Check that ink cartridges are installed properly.
4. Reset the printer by unplugging it. Hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Plug it back in and then turn it on.
5. If you can get into the settings on the menu. Try to update the firmware. Setup -> Printer update -> Check now. (Mine was up to date and set to Auto.)
6. You can perform a factory reset. On my model, it’s Setup -> Tools -> Restore Factory Default. This is what I will do if the problem returns.
Note: Depending on your model, Settings -> Printer Maintenance -> Restore Factory Default.
