How To Fix Printer Not Printing

My uncle called me because he had put new ink in his printer and it wouldn’t work. So I gave him a few suggestions, and it was the first one that worked. I told him to take out the cartridges and put them in again, making sure that he removed that piece of protective tape on the cartridge first. He forgot to remove it. Just a reminder.

Other Things To Try

These have worked at one time or another in the past:

  • Turn the computer on and off
  • Turn your printer on and off. Yes, it works for printers, too
  • Unplug the power cord to the printer, wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in
  • Replace the ink cartridges
  • Replace the USB cord
  • Open up a command prompt: In the search bar type cmd and when it appears in the menu, right-click and Run as administrator. Type each line and hit enter after each line:

net stop spooler

del /Q /F /S ”%systemroot%\System32\Spool\Printers\*.”

net start spooler

This stops the Printer Spooler service, empties the folder in question and then restarts the service.

  • Remove and re-install the drivers and software

Or maybe it’s just time to replace the printer. If you have any other suggestions, please list them in the comments.
