How To Change Highlight Color In Word 365

Have you ever highlighted different things in a very long document, and then when your superior looks at it, they ask you to change the colors? And oh, by the way, we want that done immediately because we have to send it out to other folks!! Why yes, I absolutely have been in that situation. I have to admit that it threw me into a tizzy. And that, my dear friends, is why I am going to show YOU how to do this quickly and easily. Just tuck this information away for when you may need it.

I have been asked several times if there is a method to change a highlighted color quickly and easily.  The answer is yes, there absolutely is.  It actually does more than that – it is quick and easy and saves lots of time and keystrokes, which I absolutely love!

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. It is very easy to change your existing highlight colors in Word. You just have to open your Find and Replace by using this handy shortcut – Ctrl + H.
  2. With your cursor in the Find what area, click More, which will reveal advanced options.
  3. Click Format at the bottom of your dialog.
  4. From the menu shown, select Highlight.
  5. Set the Replace With format by clicking the Format button once more.
  6. Select Highlight from the menu.
  7. In the color options that appear, select the new highlight of your choice.
  8. Replace all instances by clicking Replace All to apply your new highlight color to all of your previously highlighted text.

Easy peasy! You’re welcome!
