You once advised me on removing these leftover updates the $NTUninstallKBxxxxxx$ files. I go to My Computer click on C and then Windows but I cannot find them there now. Where do I look. You said they would be safe to delete after 1 month but for the life of me I can't find them.

If they are not there it is possible you are running a utility program that automatically deletes them. It is also possible that you have system files hidden.
Start>Control Panel>Folder options. On the View tab uncheck the box beside "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)".
The files are not hidden. I don't know what utility program I have that would delete them. Just don't know why I was once able to do this and now I am not. Thanks anyway...

It sounds a little dangerous to me. Also listed for cleaning in Standard Mode are the 'last known good configuration' backup files.....that doesn't sound good!!
1. Simply use the CCleaner features : Cleaner >Advance > tick the [Hotfix Uninstaller].
2. Go CWindows SoftwareDistributionDownload...& clear all download contents in it.

Hey Grr - Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to just post a link to the site where you got the information from?? Would sure save a lot of typing mate!! Oh, wait a minute I was forgetting about good old copy 'n paste!!!

I have used DiskMax on XP and Vista Machines since a few months without any issue. I like the fact there not so many settings, just a few questions when run the first time. I usually don't need the hotfix uninstallers, since I perform a differential image backup of my system partition every week or so. So I restore the last system in case of trouble.
I have used Quick mode on my Office PC, Standard on my personal PC.
About last known good config, I am not sure what it cleans actually, but I must say I almost never encountered the cas on my machines when this was needed. I would believe its the "old last good config" that's cleaned, but I think it's a question for the developer (http://www.koshyjohn.com). He usually answers quite quickly.
Frankly speaking, all computers now wouldn't mind to keep 1 or 2 GB windows updates left-overs.
Never put any of systems/yourselves in troubles when cleaning these left-overs, make it simply & easy will be fine.
