Hi Ema,
A very important note:
Please take your time and [b:36nop8bv]carefully read through[/b:36nop8bv] my post, up to its last line. I'll try to make this as easy as possible.
Ok, the screenshots you took are very good.
See the window at the [u:36nop8bv]very right[/u:36nop8bv] of your screenshot? The one labeled "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties"?
We need to make some changes in here. Please, make sure you [u:36nop8bv]do this in the specific order[/u:36nop8bv].
Open that window again (the same way you got it the first time - detailed steps in the link I gave you in my first post) and:
I. [b:36nop8bv]Left-click[/b:36nop8bv] on "[u:36nop8bv]Obtain an IP address automatically[/u:36nop8bv]" (it's right above the current selection).
II. [b:36nop8bv]Left-click[/b:36nop8bv] on "[u:36nop8bv]Obtain DNS server address automatically[/u:36nop8bv]" (it's right beneath).
III. Left-click on [url=http://www.columbia.edu/acis/faq/254.html:36nop8bv]here[/url:36nop8bv] and follow through [b:36nop8bv]all[/b:36nop8bv] the steps mentioned from [u:36nop8bv]point 6 and after[/u:36nop8bv].
You will have done correctly if what you see in the windows on your screen [b:36nop8bv]matches[/b:36nop8bv] the screenshots given in that guide.
Good luck and report back, please.

While I was talking to you just now I turned off the new working the wrong way and now I cant get it to start working again. I get the window screen then a black page and it says open in safe mode and a few other modes and then it shuts off so I think I need more help........... yuk sorry.
A blue screen just cam up that says inmountable_boot_volume
on the bottom it says 0x000000ed0x853d4978

Hi Ema,
This is some fine mess you got yourself in
Unfortunately, this is much more serious and complecated, i.e. I'm afraid I can't make any related instructions easy enough for you to follow.
Your best shot is someone who:
1. can have [u:2xyvu030]physical access[/u:2xyvu030] to your machine, [b:2xyvu030]and[/b:2xyvu030]
2. is [u:2xyvu030]tech savvy enough[/u:2xyvu030] to deal with both hardware and software.
So, do you have a family member or a friend who meets the above requirements and wouldn't mind investing some time to help out?

Hiiiiiiii Flying Dutchman,
I did have someone with skype that used to help me but he went back to work.
If someone there has skype maybe they could walk me thru it if its not to much trouble..
Anyway Thank you and all who helped me . The people I know near me seem to be buying new pcs or paying a few hundred dollars to fix theirs and no one has a clue about pcs.
Anyway Thanks for the time and helping me
Be Well
Ema
