Could really - really use your help with this one, it's driving me nuts!!
I got a friends IBM ThinkPad R50 for maintenance. She got it as a price from the company she worked for some years ago. She's the very average user: email, Internet, Word/Excel, some music, some photos and runs some work related software.
So, I'm in the middle of sorting out what's installed and getting rid of stuff she doesn't use, which is quite a lot given that it's a brand name laptop, i.e. came with a lot of crap installed.
Amongst others, there's this IBM 32-bit SDK for Java 2, v.1.4.1 which I tried to get rid with Revouninstaller, but it won't die!! There's no program uninstaller in its folder and when running Revo, InstallShield Wizard pops up asking if I want to completely remove the app and its features. Clicking on OK, the same Wizard seems to do nth and in split seconds gives me a window which reads "Maintenance Complete - InstallShield Wizard has finished performing maintenance operations on IBM 32-bit SDK for Java 2, v.1.4.1" There's only a Finish button to click. The funny thing is that Revo then goes on to find registry entries, though the app is still there. Trying Add/Remove Programs has no effect either.
I did a number of searches for the app, how to uninstall, trouble uninstalling it, but couldn't find anything useful - all searches return the IBM developerWorks site as the #1 result, where absoluterly noone wants to uninstall it and the rest of the results are all related on how to use it and the likes.
Any ideas how to get rid of it?

If the uninstaller isn't working, and Revo isn't working, then there are only two ways to remove the software:
* Delete the directory with the files in it (back up first just in case) then scan through the registry for everything pertaining to it.
* Format the Hard Drive.
Or....
Leave it there.
I don't think this software is hurting anything. Get rid of the start menu shortcuts, redirect all associated file extensions to something else, make sure no parts of it loads on Start up...and it's just bits on your hard drive. Annoying bits because you can't reclaim the space, but harmless bits too.
A few other ideas I had...
Update the software to the latest version (Upgrade) and then try uninstalling.
Sometimes the installer will include the option to uninstall (from the same version).
After reading the instructions at the given link, I decided to let RevoUninstaller do its magic. The moment I cleared the relevant registry entries, the corresponding folders & files on the HDD got deleted!! Cleared everything in User's profiles and finally did the cmd java -version check: Good as new!
