Ema, how many operating systems do you have...Oy vey!!! LOL
(you don't really need to answer that, as you are already aware I know just how many OS's you are running )

What exactly do you mean by.."my pc keeps rejecting everything"? Are you receiving any sort of error messages or is there just nothing happening at all??

What happens when you put a CD/DVD in the drive and then go to [b:mrd1vehn]My Computer[/b:mrd1vehn] and double click on the E drive, or right click on the E drive and select [b:mrd1vehn]Open[/b:mrd1vehn]??

Cheers....Jim

That means the disc is not being recognised, which in turn generally means the optical drive is broken...most likely the laser is shot.

How old is the drive? New optical drives are pretty cheap and that's probably the way you will need to go.

Sorry, not you wanted to hear, I know.

You could try a couple of things first:

1) Go to Device Manager, locate the entry for the optical drive and double click to open. Click on the [b:3greyw2x]Driver[/b:3greyw2x] tab and then click on the [b:3greyw2x]Uninstall[/b:3greyw2x] button. When finished restart the computer and let Windows re-install the driver.

2) Delete the registry entries for upper and lower filters. This requires some knowledge of the registry but there is an automatic fix available on the Microsoft Support page [url=http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116:3greyw2x]HERE.[/url:3greyw2x] Click on the green [b:3greyw2x]Run now [/b:3greyw2x]button.

You can try these things but in the end I am pretty sure you are probably going to need a new drive.

Cheers...Jim

Yes, well that's about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Ema, really mate this isn't worth keeping on with. There is a 98% likelihood that the drive is shot. Go get yourself a new one mate!!

Cheers...Jim
