Thanks Zig.....I think!!

At this time I have been running Skype for 72 hours and the port forwarding has been back in place for 48 hours....no re-occurrence of the phantom operator!!

So, I think it is fairly safe to assume that the recalcitrant wireless keyboard and/or sender were to blame.....as suspected.
