I think this might work for users who bought into W8 and received a product key. I'm not sure about the mass volume keys that manufactures use especially for products that have no visible product key only a product logo. I will agree with Paul and 8.1 should have been a SP upgrade for W8 users. I have the 64bit 8.1 ISO already I think I will modify it and burn another CD and see if it will work. Hi Jim
Just had to reset one of my W8 computers for my daughter and this link to howtogeek worked for me. I downloaded the 8.1 media to a usb stick and was able to edit the soucres list. This allows one to skip the first product key entry and install 8.1 and then use the change product key and use the W8 product key for activation. This sure saves on a lot of W8 updating just to get back into 8.1. Thanks Daniel.
