windows setup failure.

my hhd failed and i installed a new drive. after running my 3 recovery disc's win's displayed( WINDOWS SETUP COULD NOT CONFIG WINDOWS TO RUN ON THIS COMPUTER HARDWARE)? changed the bios from raid to ahci and had the same problem. could this be caused by the new hhd. both are 500g sata. tech at best buy said operating system missing and need buy the windows op system program for $200. any ideas's.  thanks.

Hi fillup - Welcome to the DCT forum.

What brand of PC? (I am guessing it might be a HP?)

Do you have a genuine Windows product key?

If yes, you can download Windows 7 ISOs (including SP1) here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/

Download the ISO (must be the identical operating system to the original), burn to DVD and clean install. Use your original product key to activate.
