Yes folks, the newest release of Windows 7 will be available for public download from tomorrow. The terms and conditions of this Release Candidate version will be slightly different from the Beta version...here are a few things you should know:
1) The number of RC downloads will not be governed by limiting license numbers. You have until the [b:1en0xq9f]30th June[/b:1en0xq9f] to download. To overcome the inevitable server errors, my advice would be to avoid the initial rush and wait a couple of days before downloading.
2) Upgrading from the Beta will not work. Microsoft are recommending a clean install.
3) Windows 7 RC is free for one year and will expire on June 1st, 2010. However, after March 1, 2010, Windows 7 will start shutting down every two hours until expiry.
4) You do not necessarily need to burn a DVD in order to install Windows 7. Since Windows Vista, you can install Windows after already booting to the existing OS. After downloading the .iso image file, instead of burning it, simply extract the contents to a folder, and run Setup.

Thanks, I heard about this over the weekend. I've just gotten an old machine that "just stopped showing the screen" according to the former owner. Thought I'd put the RC on it after I figure what's amiss with this piece of iron! I didn't have a box I could spare with the betas. They were pretty buggy trying to run in a virtual environment, so I gave up.
