Browsing through my program files I noticed something called symsilent.exe
I read that it has something to do with Norton Antivirus, which I do not have. I don't believe I use any programs associated with Norton.
Should I / can I remove this program?
Myles, symsilent.exe is pres-installed on new computers that come with a Norton trial and is used for activation.
I am guessing that your PC originally came bundled with a Norton trial which has since been uninstalled. It's perfectly safe to remove this program, see here for more details: http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/SymSilent-24480-program.aspx
