Myles, your PC doesn't need to be wireless enabled in order to connect to a wireless printer, that's done by connecting the printer to the network.

Do you already have a wireless network set up? If so, you should be able to simply connect the printer to the network using the printer's settings. What is the exact model number of your printer?

Usually through the router. The router will be connected to the PC via ethernet cable (usually a blue or yellow cable) so you can connect to the net.

Unless you are connecting to the net in some other way?

Okay, well the router has the ability to transmit wirelessly, all you have to do is set it up.

Do you know how to access the router's configuration utility?

I'm sorry Jim, but I have no clue as to how to access the router configuration utility.
Since I am on the computer almost everyday, you would think I would know more than I do.
All I can remember is when they installed the service the guy said something about needing a password for when I want to hook up another device to the network. But when he explained how, I did not understand nor do I remember the password.
Again, sorry for not being much help to you on this.

The password will sometimes be somewhere on the router? If it hasn't been changed then try ADMIN for the user and PASSWORD for the pass phrase.

Okay, good, you've located the password. On the same place where you found the password there should also be an SSID (the network's name). You'll need both to set the printer up wirelessly.

Read through the documentation here pertaining to your operating system: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02281754

In particular, read the section under: "I have already installed my HP product with a USB connection and want to switch to a wireless connection."

And watch the video under "Video of connecting your wireless printer to a wireless network using WPS".
