I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 AMD E 300 with Radeon HD 6310 Graphics.
I would like to be able to play a few of the newer PC games but when I try they seem to stutter and do not run smoothly.
Do I need to install a better graphics card? If so can someone recommend what kind I could buy and install without a high cost?
Thank you for any advice.

Hi Myleswest, I have web site (www.game-debate.com) for you to go to and you can enter your CPU and GPU into the search box and it will give you details about your CPU and GPU. You may have to scroll down the list until you find what you want. If you go to a dedicated graphics card you need to make sure your power supply will handle the extra load. Daniel.

Thank you for your help guys. I will check out that web site.
Just a note....I did not want to open up my computer to find out the power information. So I thought I would take a chance and call Emachines Corp and ask.
After telling them my situation and how I did not want to open my computer they said they have the correct replacement part for that model but would only give me the price of a new power supply unit and refused to simply tell me how much power was already installed. Nice eh?

Hi Myles
I'm a bit of a GPU (graphics card) fan, as I'm playing with them most of the day.
Could you let us know the model number of the E machines desktop you have please? HD 6310 is usually a laptop GPU.
Stuttering or lag in games is usually due to a low spec GPU, hence the question. Also, which game or games is suffering?
Thanks
Marc

That is what I was wondering. That CPU and GPU combination usually means it has intergrated graphics.

Precisely Daniel and the chances are that Myles has a free Pcie slot, which would be ideal.
By the way, I made an error in that lag is used to describe delay in online gaming only. Stutter and low fps are due to not enough beef in the gpu.
It could well be this machine, which has a pcie x16 slot.

Hello Marc,
The model # on the side of the E Machine is EL1360G and the name of the game I am having trouble with is "Medal of Honor Airborne'1.jpgImage Enlarger

That is the exact same model when I ran it through Emachine support. The sticky point here is the 220W factory power supply, if it hasn't been changed. That will not run a very modern GPU. I did some internet searching and came up with these two replacement cards (Nvidia GT640 and a Radeon HD7730M) but both of these cards will require a 400W PS. Daniel.
