Hi Folks
Just developed a problem today with my computer. It seems to have developed a mind of its own as without any warning it simply begins to scroll up and down which is very off-putting to say the least. Have tried looking at Help in Microsoft and Googling the problem without success. Any idea of what the problem might be and how to solve it? Thanks for your help.

Hi Gerald - Desktop or laptop?
Exactly what is scrolling up and down; the desktop background, running programs, or a particular running program?
Is this behavior constant or does it stop and start? If the latter, is there any kind of pattern?
Have you tried disconnecting the mouse? Or, if a laptop, disabling the touchpad?

I'm using a desktop. The page that is open scrolls up and down. Even as I write this the page suddenly adopts a mind of its own and scrolls up or down. There is really no pattern to it but it is a fairly regular occurrence. Have tried disconnecting mouse/keyboard but makes no difference. I'm using a Logitech
combo - DiNovo Cordless Desktop which includes keyboard and mouse. This is the first time it has given me bother if it happens to be the cause of the problem.

So this is still happening even with the mouse and keyboard disconnected, I'm stumped. Honestly never heard of anything like this before which wasn't caused by either mouse, keyboard, or touchpad.
Let's see if we can narrow this down a bit Gerald, please answer the following questions:
-
Is this happening only when you are using your browser or is it also happening in other applications, such as Word?
What browser are you using, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, or something else?
Does the page scroll up and down a long way or is it more like just jumping a couple of lines?
Do you have a spare mouse and keyboard you can connect and see if the problem still exists?
Please go to Start>Control Panel>Mouse. Under the "Buttons" tab, scroll down and find the option to "Turn on ClickLock". Is that option enabled or disabled?
Have you updated the Logitech DiNovo driver recently or the Logitech SetPoint software?
Seeing how faulty mouse or keyboard have been pretty much eliminated as possibilities, I'm thinking maybe a browser add-on or faulty mouse driver.

Thanks for reply. Sorry for delay as I've been off hill climbing.
Guess what - the Gremlins must have been busy because the
problem seems to have resolved itself. I didn't do a thing to
the computer but everything seems back to normal. Will keep
my fingers crossed that it continues to behave properly.

Hi all
if it happens again try checking out your ram,
I fix older computers for fun & find that ram is one of the major factors in this kind of mad computer gremlins/glitches
some-time just removing & cleaning out the dust, then replacing do,s the trick.
