My system had 8GB of RAM and was working OK but a tad slow when working on LARGE Photoshop files. So...I added another 4GB of RAM. The system can take 32GB.
Normally the system uses about 3 gigs of RAM to just run with nothing open. After installing the additional RAM I get a notice that Windows 7 is not genuine. After getting that issue straightened out my system now uses almost 5 gigs of RAM to just run.
What's up with that??????????

This is a screenshot of my W7 Resource Monitor with the memory tab ticked. As you can see I am only using a little over 1.2MB of ram.
If you are using 5GB of ram, to run your system, then I would think you have a process running that is using that ram. You can use Task Manager or maybe even CPU-Z to investigate what process is the culprit, I personally use Speccy to get a quick look at what is using my ram.
OK, I used the Task Manager to close a lot of "unnecessary" programs and services to get the RAM usage to 1752MB while idle. (woohoo) I was very surprised upon opening Chrome that RAM usage shot up to 3.8GB !!!
I don't know how I ever used Photoshop when I had a 32bit system and only 3.2GB of RAM.
Thanks for the assistance.

No plans to go to W10. I currently have an SSD for the OS.
W7 is working fine now.
What browser do you use?
I used to work with FF but I had constant crashes and went to Chrome. I do use several extensions (20 !!).
Some of my CC2015 files get to be pretty large....100-200 MB or larger before merging and saving. I still keep some of my tiff files. I have apprx 1TB of images
Thank you

I understand what you are saying but users have about 2 more years of support for W7 SP1. You do not have to ditch W7 but you will have to dual boot it with W10.
I personally have XP, Vista, W7 and W10 on my PC, each OS has it own particular function. This is the easiest way I can run some of my older software.
The boot order is controlled through W10 thru EasyBCD.
The days of running one version of Windows is becoming very hard.
I use IE11 and FF in W10, Edge is getting better and IE11 in W7, XP and Vista never go online.
Just about all of my online activity is done with W10. W10 is still evolving but it should be the last Windows OS users will have to buy.
